Lone Star International Wine Competition in Grapevine, TX

The Lone Star International Wine Competition is open to all wines produced by commercially bonded wineries in the country of origin and licensed to produce wine for sale in the U.S.   All individual wine entries must be available for public purchase at the time of the competition.  There is no limit to the number of entries per winery.  This competition, celebrating its 31st year, will be held June 2-3, 2014 at the Grapevine Convention Center.

Texas Alternative Agriculture Producers Forum at P-6 Farms in Montgomery County

 

Through a cooperative effort between Texas Department of Agriculture and Sam Houston State University, we are happy to announce the date and tentative agenda for the summer 2014 Texas Alternative Agriculture Producers Forum. This event will highlight a variety of topics which were chosen based on the needs communicated in a previous research survey of Texas producers.  Registration for the forum will be accepted in cash or check the day of the event.

Tentative Agenda:
8:30-9:00am:      Registration at P-6 Farms
 
9:00-9:30am:      TDA- Go Texan Program Opportunities
 
9:35-10:05am:    Marketing Certification Programs (Organic, All natural, Local)
 
10:10-10:40am:  Market Buyer or Farmers Market Representative
 
10:45-11:15am:  Possible Grocery Buyer or Chef
 
11:20-11:40am:  Alternative practices in Integrated Pest Management
 
11:40-12:30pm:  Lunch
 
12:30-1:30pm:    P-6 Farms Tour 

1:30-2:00pm:      SHSU Sustainable Agriculture and Food Environments Program
