Dana Schrick, a Leo born in 1952. Married to Keith in 1972. 2 sons, 2 daughters-in-laws and 3 grandsons. All stay or live on the Schrick Land & Cattle Ranch compound at Millsap, Texas, west of Fort Worth.
Retired from court reporting after 30 years, specialized in medical and technical depositions.
Opened Schrick's Liquors in 1992 with 99 bottles of wine on the wall. We now offer over 4000 different wines on a daily basis. Guess who has had them all. In a regular year I will taste and judge over 5000 wines. I love to dissect a wine and jot the findings in my journal and I really enjoy arguing about a wine to the point of having to open another bottle to continue the discussion.
Wrote "From The Wine Cellar" column for our local papers for years and now do guest articles for different groups, periodicals and papers. Share my tasting notes with wineries who ask my opinion on their wine descriptors/traits and confer on label information with wineries. Do guest speaker dinners and events pertaining to wines of the world.
Began a monthly wine and food appreciation dinner 13 years ago and it is still going strong with 65+ seats filled each month. We feature wines from various world regions and pair them with a 4-course menu prepared by a local chef.
Have judged international, national and local wine events for many years.
Have been blessed with great teachers, winemakers, sales people and friends who have nurtured my passion for wine into what I know today. |
