Renie Steves is owner of Cuisine Concepts, a cooking school and enterprise of food, wine, and travel writing. She has attended wine educational seminars such as the American Harvest Workshop at Cakebread Cellars, Sterling Viticulture Seminar, and Allied Domecq Academy of Wine ”On the Road” Seminar.
Renie and husband Sterling, write a weekly wine column in the Fort Worth Business Press and for Winies, a magazine in Seoul, Korea. They have given seminars and done freelance writing for other entities such as the Italian Trade Commission, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Fort Worth Magazine, Aura magazine, and The Wine News.
Renie has judged various wine competitions — Dallas Morning News, Pacific Rim, Finger Lakes International, Lone Star, Southwest Wine Competition, Indianapolis International, and in Italy at Vinitaly in Verona and Banco d’Assagio in Torgiano.
Author of Dallas Is Cooking! and Fort Worth Is Cooking! Renie features top chefs and restaurateurs in these cookbooks along with wine suggestions and nutrition guidelines. She also co-authored the chapter on Texas in Culinaria USA.
Renie has been president of the trustees for The Culinary Trust, the charitable arm of the International Association of Culinary Professionals and President of the of Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI). LDEI is composed of about 1300 women who are professionals in food, fine beverage and hospitality in 27 chapters in the US and Canada. Their mission is education, advocacy and philanthropy.
In March 2007 Renie and Sterling received the “Spirit of Texas” Award from Savor Dallas, an annual food and wine festival in Dallas.
In September 2008 Renie was honored in Lynchburg, Virginia, with the Distinguished Alumnae Award from her college, Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, now Randolph College.
In February 2009, Renie was on the cover of the American Heart Association invitation for the Wear Red luncheon with the caption “Heart Healthy Living is in the Palm of Your Hand...Live Vibrantly.” |
