NONCOMMERCIAL WINE COMPETITION: Rules & Regulations
- The competition is open only to wines produced by non-commercial winemakers producing less than 200 gallons per year.
- Entries cannot be available for public purchase.
- Every bottle of wine submitted must bear an informational label including winemaker name, division/class, wine, vintage and grape source: personal vineyard, orchard, commercial vineyard, bulk juice, concentrate, kit, etc. All blends must have grape/fruit percentages stated on the entry form and label. Place a label stating “NOT FOR SALE, FOR COMPETITION AND DONATION ONLY” on lower back of bottle.
- Each entry must consist of two (2) identical 750-ml bottles or four (4) identical 375-ml bottles.
- The fee for each entry is:
- TWGGA Members:
$40 for the first entry
$20 for each subsequent entry
- Non-TWGGA Members:
$50 for the first entry
$25 for each subsequent entry
- Entry forms and fees must be received at TWGGA by Friday, October 24, 2008.

- A preliminary elimination or retain round will be held if the number of entries in a class warrants.
- Judging will be by commercial winemakers and industry trade.
- To the extent possible, all entries will be judged by the selected division, class and residual sugar. If an insufficient number of entries are submitted in a class, entries will be judged with a related class.
- Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to wines that perform best in each division and class. The judging panel may award multiple medals.
- Best of Show Medals will be awarded in the White Wine division; Red Wine division; Late Harvest, Port and Dessert Wine division.
- To judge wines appropriately, all entries with residual sugar over .3% must state the specific residual sugar percentage on the entry form and the bottle.
